TIPS FOR INJURED WORKERS

1. Make sure you save copies of all documents that you receive from your case. This includes documents from the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, the workers’ compensation carrier and your doctors.

2. Keep in mind that the insurance company may place you under surveillance.

3. The workers’ compensation carrier may also monitor your activities on the internet.  Make sure that accounts that you have on social networking sites, such as Facebook or My Space, are not available to the general public.

4. It is important to tell your doctor about any prior injuries to the same area no matter how minor.

5. If you are receiving workers’ compensation or have filed for benefits, you MUST report any wages earned within 30 days.

6. Notify your employer immediately of any work injuries.

7. Don’t assume that the workers’ compensation carrier has calculated your compensation rate correctly.  Check the worker compensation carrier’s calculations against your own records.
